As the hosting fourth seed, Wooddale outlasted the fifth seeded Millington Trojans 19-17 to advance to the second round of the Class 6A State Football Playoffs. The Cardinals (9-2) took an early 13-0 lead in the first half after a Javon Robinson touchdown run. The Trojans chipped into the Wooddale lead before halftime when Stanton Brown scored on a short TD run. Trailing 13-7 to start the third quarter, Millington went on an 80-yard drive to take its first lead of the night. Seniors Markees Roach (6-4, 295) and Eddie Turner (6-3, 335) are a couple of guys Rogers will lean on. Both guys will likely see action on both sides of the line. Seniors Marcus Jones and Jesse Thompson are two more seniors will be expected to make big contributions. Senior Joseph Nelson (5-11, 245) is another guy will be a fixture on the line.
