Golden Tornadoes will play for state title Friday

Behind a huge game from Josh Nicks, Union City advanced to the Class 1A state title game Friday night in Waynesboro with a 31-21 semifinal victory over Wayne County. The Golden Tornadoes (11-2) will play South Pittsburg (11-2) Friday in Cookeville. Nicks scored three touchdowns in the second half as Union City expanded its 10-7 halftime lead. He finished with 193 yards, including 125 in the final two quarters. NIcks gave Union City a 7-0 lead in the first quarter on a two-yard touchdown run. With the scored tied 7-7, Jorge Guerri booted a 25-yard field goal to give Union City the lead for good.
