Photo by: Crystal Burns 08-09 Record: N/A Head Coach:  Meredith Jacobs District:  N/A Returning Starters N/A Starters Lost N/A 09-10 Outlook South Gibson County High School opened its doors this year and will play a freshman and junior varsity schedule only.  Head coach Meredith Jacobs is expected to utilize a lot of players this season.  Adonis Richardson, Carlos Walden and Quincy Walden are expected to be three of the team’s key players. But the way the team has competed this year in freshman and junior varsity action, it’s hard for fans in Medina not to get excited about the future. In a convincing junior varsity win over Scotts Hill, freshmen Carlos Walden scored three touchdowns (three rushing, one on an interception return) and sophomore Chris Armstrong ran for two. Sophomore Avery Phillips, who could be the quarterback of the future, ran for a score and directed the offense efficiently. Not too many coaches get a chance to start a football program from scratch, but that’s exactly the opportunity that has been laid out in front of him as the Hornets begin playing a junior varsity and freshman football schedule. “The support from the parents and community has been unbelievable,â€?? says Stidham. “Everybody around here is absolutely ecstatic right now.â€??
