Heading into the 2008-09 basketball season, the St. Benedict Lady Eagles basketball team certainly looked good on paper with all five starters returning.And so far, the Lady Eagles have lived up to expectations ... and then some. The breakthrough moment of the season came on Jan. 9 when the Lady Eagles beat Briarcrest, the longtime rulers of DII-AA-West, 59-34.  Last year Briarcrest beat St. Benedict twice in convincing fashion. Through late January, the Lady Eagles were undefeated in league play and looking like a No. 1 seed when the region tournament rolls around.
