The Basics Head coach:  Joel Goff (6th season) District:  15-A 2008 Record:  3-7 Playoffs:  Did not qualify Base offense:  Multiple I Base defense:  4-4 Returning starters:  6 offense, 7 defense Overview Injuries hurt the Panthers last season but things are looking better this year.  Senior Justin Lindsey (6-1, 285) is an active lineman.  Last year he had 57 tackles, including 16 behind the line.  His classmate, Jacob Keen, led the team in tackles last season with 60.  He plays linebacker.  Junior Brice White had a big sophomore season, rushing for 379 yards.  Seniors Cody Newman and Blake King are two more guys who make things happen for the Panthers.

2008 In ReviewThe Panthers featured a very balanced rushing attack this season that was effective at times.  Sophomore Brice White led the way with 379 yards on the ground, while senior Jordan Carroll added 324 yards and sophomore Jerrett Scott rushed for 298.  Senior quarterback Jeremy Jones also got in on the act, rushing for 205 yards and passing for 480 more.  Juniors Justin Lindsey and Jacob Keen led the defensive effort.  Lindsey had 57 tackles, including 16 for loss, while Keen led the team with 60 stops, including eight for loss.  Injuries were a major issue as nine of the team’s 12 seniors missed significant playing time. 2009 ForecastWith skilled players returning across the board, look for the Panthers to have a chance to be…

Riverside barely missed out on the playoffs a year ago, finishing fifth in a very tough Region 7-2A. Through six games this season, the Panthers were 1-5 overall and 0-3 in league play, but the playoffs are not out of the question yet with three leagues yet to play. The Panthers have gotten strong performances from several players, some expected, some not. Senior running back Jordan Carroll, an All-Region performer a year ago, has been steady. He rushed for a team-high 93 yards in a close loss to Stewart County. Jeremy Jones, another senior, was not expected to play a lot at quarterback, but he has. He threw for 102 yards against Waverly and 65 in a 26-8 win over Loretto. The future looks bright…
