Photo by: Jeff Ireland 08-09 Record:  1-23, district tournament Head Coach:  Linda McKinnie District:  13-AA Returning Starters G - Shalunda Barbee (Sr.) F - Brittany Lyles (Jr.) F - Krystle Hurdle (Jr.) Starters Lost G - Mercedes Norfork 09-10 Outlook Mercedes Norfork was the leader of this team the last three years.  Her production will be hard to replace but there is some experience coming back.  Senior guard Shalunda Barbee and junior forwards Brittany Lyles and Krystle Hurdle have all played plenty.  Lyles and Hurdle can be effective players in the paint.  Barbee is the kind of player who can get hot on the perimeter.  Keep an eye on Kaneisha Maclin this season.  She can score in a variety of ways, including from behind the…

Wright 09-10 Outlook Last year’s head coach, Blaine Mahaffey, is now at Dyersburg.  New head coach Ralph Turner takes over as the Tigers try to be competitive in an expanded District 13-AA.  Senior Quintin Lee is a steady point guard who has been a big part of the Tiger program for the past two seasons.  Senior James Cofield is a 6-1 forward who will be counted on this season.  Same goes for senior guard Jacoby Harris.  The Tigers lost some talent last season.  Seniors…

Photo by Jeff Ireland Watching a Ripley High School football game this season has definitely been a different experience for Tiger fans. Al Pellegrino brought his wide open style to the Lauderdale County school this season, and it’s not hard to see his fingerprints all over the offense. The results have been positive for most part. Ripley suffered a disappointing shutout loss to Covington, but the offense has shown plenty of good signs. Quarterback Erick Scruggs spreads the ball around a lot to playmakers like Jake Hurdle, Garvan Bonds, Brandon Blackwell and Nick Taliferro. The offense was in peak form in a 42-0 win over Gibson County as the Tigers showed the ability to score on lengthy drives and long plays. It may take a…
