East Can’t Handle Lanning, Riverdale

Anne Marie Lanning never looked so at home. The Riverdale senior lit up Memphis East for 24 points, 14 in the first half, on the same floor where she will begin her college career next fall, leading the Lady Warriors to the state title game for the first time since 1979. "We’ve been talking about [playing in the championship] forever," said Lanning.  "It’s a dream come true." The whole Riverdale team might as well have been playing a home game.  It seemed as though they got every roll on shots, every loose ball bouncing their way.  With their campus just minutes away from the Murphy Center, the crowd was large and loud.
