08-09 Record:  20-10, region semis Head Coach:  Jerry Lott District:  14-AA Returning Starters F - Rashonda Turner (Sr.) Starters Lost G - Brianna Holt F - Samantha Burns F - Kenessa Surratt F - Kayla Brown 09-10 Outlook A bit of a rebuilding job could be in order in Selmer.  Last year’s team came within one of a berth in the sectionals, but most of the key players from that team are gone, namely Brianna Holt, the team’s go-to player the last two seasons.  Senior Rashonda Turner plays on the wing and is one of the returning players with extensive experience.  In the backcourt, junior Katie Forsythe is a steady player.  At the forward position head coach Jerry Lott is likely to lean on senior…

08-09 Record:  11-17, region quarters Head Coach:  Steve Forsythe District: 14-AA Returning Starters G - Rakivias Pollard (Sr.) F - Chris Whitten Starters Lost G - Ronny Nixon F - Cortez Smith F - Michael Taylor 09-10 Outlook The Bobcats leaned heavily on Cortez Smith last year for scoring.  With his graduation, others will have to step forward this season.  At the forward spot, look for production from senior Chris Whitten, a 6-5 guy who will be very important when it comes to rebounding and defense.  In the backcourt, seniors like Rakivias Pollard and Melvin DuBose will have a chance this season to serve in more prominent roles.  How quickly the Bobcats’ interior players develop will be very important if McNairy is going to compete…

Hardin County holds off McNairy girls

Carnesha Bradley was the only player to score in double figures Tuesday night in Savannah as Hardin County defeated McNairy Central 40-37 in girls’ basketball action. Bradley hit a pair of threes and finished with 12 points to lead the way for Hardin County. Kayla Brown led McNairy with nine points and Katie Forsythe added seven. Hardin County led 31-22 after three quarters before a late surge from McNairy made things interesting down the stretch.
