Photo by: Lisa Smith 08-09 Record:  2-23, district tourney Head Coach: Chris Wyatt District: 13-A Returning Starters F - Max Arnold (Jr.) F - Zach Hinson (Sr.) C - Hunter Herrin (Sr.) Starters Lost G - Luke Anderson F - Tyler Holt 09-10 Outlook Chris Wyatt is the new coach at McKenzie and he inherits a team that struggled last season, finishing with just two wins.  The team’s leading scorer last year, Tyler Holt, graduated.  But there are some players with experience.  At 6-3, senior center Hunter Herrin is a guy who can be very productive rebounding and scoring.  Joining him in the frontcourt will be junior Max Arnold and senior Zach Hinson.  Arnold will be asked to carry more of the scoring load this…

Photo by: Lisa 08-09 Record:  16-12, region quarters Head Coach:  Dan Ridley District:  13-A Returning Starters F - Travatia Bowden (Jr.) Starters Lost G - Zana Carter G - Mignon Salameh C - Amber Nunnery 09-10 Outlook Several key players were lost to graduation from a very successful team last season.  Head coach Dan Ridley will have to have several players come forward to make up for the loss of players like Zana Carter and Amber Nunnery.  Junior forward Travatia Bowden is probably the number one candidate to do that.  She’s been starting since her freshman season and is capable of scoring in bunches.  Seniors like Alex Gray, Evan Hudgins and Linley McClain figure to have a chance to make a big impact this season. …

Greer’s 32 leads West Carroll past McKenzie

West Carroll got off to a quick start Tuesday night on the road against McKenzie and cruised to an 85-48 win in the District 13-A opener for both teams. War Eagle senior Thomas Greer had a huge night, leading all scorers with 32 points. Xavier Cunningham added 10 for West Carroll (2-2), which jumped out to a 27-11 first quarter lead and never looked back. West Carroll won the third quarter 31-14. Cody Bullington led McKenzie with 13 points.
