Liberty put together the best season in the school’s short history this season, but it ended Friday night at Giles County. Giles County repeatedly denied Liberty in the red zone and advanced to the Class 4A state title game with a 28-14 win. Bobcats’ quarterback Bo Wallace threw for two scores and ran for two. Liberty scored on a 99-yard touchdown pass from Spencer Brooks to Tevin Bryant to tie the score at 7-7, but Liberty was not able to score again until late in the game when they were trailing 28-7. Liberty (12-2) won a district title and three playoff games this season, both firsts for the program.

But Liberty finally got some defensive stops in the second half and went on to defeat the Cavaliers, 41-20, in the Class 4A state quarterfinals. The Cavaliers scored on their first three possessions and led 21-14 midway through the third quarter after Darrius Brass broke a 53-yard touchdown run down the sideline. Liberty quarterback Spencer Brooks, who also had a 47-yard touchdown run in the second quarter, broke a 31-yard touchdown run late in the second quarter to tie the scored at 21-21.
