Starters Lost G - Carlos Young F - Russell Avery 09-10 Outlook The Falcons lost just five games last year, and four came against Humboldt, a team that was ranked No. 1 in the state all season.  Guys like Carlos Young and Russell Avery will be missed but there are plenty of athletes back.  Senior Patrick Robertson is a 6-4 guy who is just as comfortable operating on the perimeter or getting to the hoop.  Sophomore Rafael Tyler made waves last year as a freshman and should be even better this season.  Seniors who should be in the regular…

Lake County holds off Halls in Thursday action

Photo by Roger Smith Halls was looking to go 3-0 Thursday night in Tiptonville for the first time in a while, but fell just short in a 23-18 loss to Lake County. Down by five with less than two minutes to go, Halls failed to convert a fourth-and-nine play and took its first loss of the season. Patrick Robertson had a big game for the Falcons, who moved to 3-1 on the season.

Last year’s season Lake County boys’ basketball season ended in heartbreak with a loss to eventual state champ Union City in the region semifinals, just two wins away from a state tournament berth. The way things have gone for the Falcons this season, it certainly looks like Lake County will get another chance to earn a ticket to Murfreesboro. Through 21 games the Falcons had lost just one game, and that came against Humboldt, the undefeated and top-ranked Class A team in the state. Lake County, ranked No. 2 in Class A in the latest poll, has been led by seniors Russell Avery and Carlos Young, plus a very strong supporting cast.
