Kirby makes big lead hold up against Brighton

Photo by Fred Brooks Kirby jumped out to a 21-0 lead Friday night in Brighton and defeated the Cardinals 49-21 in the first round of the Class 6A state playoffs. The Cougars will take on White Station Friday night in round two. Kirby got on the board when Tyrone Clark picked off a Danny Potter pass and returned it 50 yards for the score. Deion Woods hit Fred Plummer on a 60-yard touchdown pass later in the period and threw a short touchdown pass to Storm Johnson to make the score 21-0.
