The team could be a little more guard-oriented this season under second-year head coach Michael Hart. Two of the team’s top returning scorers, seniors Marc Roach (4 ppg) and Davante Watson (8 ppg), are guards. Sophomore forward Mitchell Simpson averaged eight points off the bench a year ago. The Gibson County trio of Heather Butler, Aubry Reedy and Heather Griffin each had huge games Tuesday night in Dyer. The result was a convincing 71-41 win over Haywood that pushed Gibson County’s record to 7-0. Butler led the way with a game-high 24 points. Griffin worked the paint for 16 points and Reedy finished with 10. Courtney Haynes added 10 for Gibson County, which led 25-10 after one quarter and 43-26 at the half. Jamie Shutes led Haywood with 10 points.
