Dyersburg storms into state tournament

Photo by Roger Smith Dyersburg had no trouble with Fairley last week in sectional volleyball action, winning three straight two advance to the Class AA State Tournament. Amber Moody got on a roll in the second set, serving for 41 straight points. The Lady Trojans begin play in the state tournament Oct. 28 against Chattanooga Christian.

The Basics Head coach:  Rahnmann Slocum (11th season) District:  16-AA 2008 Record:  9-3 Playoffs:  Second round Base offense:  Multiple Base defense:  4-2-5 Returning starters:  5 offense, 5 defense Overview Rahnmann Slocum has been one of the most successful coaches in Memphis the last decade. This year’s team is without a lot of talent from last year, but if history means anything, the Bulldogs will be good again. Senior running back Derrick Murrell is a good one. He figures to get the bulk of the carries this season. Senior Daniel Taylor (6-3, 250) is an experienced offensive lineman. Senior Deandre Jackson is a good athlete who will be a big part of things.
