In addition to losing four starters, the team lost Amber Kendall, a regular who injured her knee before last season and was unable to play before graduating. Brittany Farley, a 5-10 senior, is the team’s only player with significant experience. She can play any position on the floor. Head coach Chris Finley is hoping the progress continues with a lot of the key players from that team back in the mix. Junior forward Chandler Jordan is one of the best athletes in the school and will be key to the team’s fortunes this season. Westview to host huge basketball playday Saturday
Basketball fans who want to get an early look at a ton of area girls basketball teams will get that opportunity this Saturday at UT-Martin’s Elam Center. The Westview Lady Chargers will play host to Play Day 2009 as no less than 30 West Tennessee teams will get their first taste of game action. “This is the fourth year we’ve done this,” said Westview girls coach Sean Stephenson. “The past three years we’ve had it at different schools around Weakley County. This year it will all be at one place. It’s a great opportunity for coaches and fans to see a bunch of teams play at one place.” Each team will play three games that will consist of four ten-minute quarters with a running clock.…
