
Photo/Story by Thomas Sellers Jr. The confrontation between rivals Bolton and Millington was a pure defensive struggle Friday night on the wet and muddy turf of Millington Football Stadium. And the home-standing Trojans emerged victorious 7-0 in overtime. Both teams traded fumbles and big defensive stops for four quarters. Millington’s defense was sparked by senior linebacker Demetre Jones. Jones had three straight tackles at one point in the fourth quarter. The senior linebacker also knocked down a pass and made a tackle in overtime. His teammate Stanton Brown scored the go-ahead touchdown in overtime from two yards out. The Trojans (5-3) defense kept Bolton (2-4) out of the end zone for the win to remain perfect in District 14-3A play.
Photo by Terry Longmire It wasn’t easy, but Arlington moved to 7-0 on the season with a District 14-AAA win at rival Bolton. Adam Poole hooked up with Taylor Thornabene on a 74-yard touchdown pass that proved to be the difference in a 10-6 win. The Tigers are 2-0 in league play.
Bolton got on the scoreboard first Friday night at home against ECS, but the Eagles controlled the game the rest of the way and went on to a 28-15 win. Wildcat quarterback C.J. Marshall scored on a 40-yard keeper in the first quarter to put his team ahead 8-0. ECS answered with rushing touchdowns by quarterback Will Jamison and running back Davis Childers to go ahead 14-8. Just before halftime Josh Ingram intercepted a Marshall pass and returned it 55 yards for a score, and Bolton never really got back in the game. With 6:57 left in the game, Jamison hooked up with Childers on a 20-yard touchdown to put the game out of reach. Marshall found Alonzo Williams on a 29-yard touchdown pass with…
